Harlingen, TX:
LeNelle Slack Douglas, 74, born October 25, 1934, went to be with the Lord on March 13, 2009.
She is survived by her husband, Charles Ray Douglas, her daughters Diana Pfieffer and Lani Kay Ackerman, M.D., and her 7 grandchildren, Jesse, Allyce, and Mariah Pfieffer and Kristen, Aaron, Austin, and Kayla Ackerman.
She had a great love for music and was an outstanding pianist and organist who used her talents only to serve the Lord Jesus Christ. Raised in East Texas, she attended high school in Jasper, Texas, and received degrees at Baylor University and Sam Houston University. LeNelle and Charles were married on September 14, 1957. She was loved as a teacher and taught ages varied subjects from first grade to university world history. Her greatest legacy is her love for the Lord that her children and grandchildren continue, and the heavenly music with which she blessed innumerable congregations. LeNelle will always by in our memories because of her ready smile, her listening ear, and her love for her Savior and her family. Unknown to many, she assisted in the founding, establishment, and support of a Christian development mission and orphanage in Nepal, Health Environmental Learning Program (H.E.L.P.), through which she helped to save the spiritual and physical lives of many.
In lieu of flowers, her family requests that memorials be given to H.E.L.P.
