Lea Stanford Moothart, 75, passed away on Saturday, September 15, 2007 at her residence.  Lea was born January 26, 1932 in Cass County in NE Texas to Ruby and Roy Stanford.  In 1949 she graduated from Harlingen High School and was Miss Harlingen that same year.  Lea was a sustaining member of Harlingen Jr. League and a member of Treasure Hills Presbyterian Church. She was an avid hunter and fisherwoman and spent most of her time at her home on South Padre Island.  Lea never met a stranger and was a friend to all.
She was preceded in death by her son, Cleve Greer; father, W.R. Stanford; mother, Ruby Ratliff and one sister, Nell Stanford Wilkinson.
Lea is survived by her husband, John A. Moothart; sons, Frank Brooks (Jeanette S.) Greer and Ward A. Moothart; and grandson, John Brooks Greer. Also surviving is a special friend whom she thought of as a daughter, Ofelia (FeFe) Vela.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 18, 2007 from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 19, 2007, 2 p.m., at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home with Rev. Dale Hines officiating. Burial will be private.
The family request that memorial contribution may be made to Treasure Hills Presbyterian Church or a charity of choice.
