LaVerne A. Hailey

October 11, 1916 — December 4, 2006

SAN BENITO, TX:  LaVerne Hailey, 90, passed away Monday, December 4, 2006 at Harlingen Medical Center.

LaVerne was born in Dyer County, TN October 11, 1916 to Hudie & Erice Austin.  She received Jesus as her savior at age 17.  She attended Union University, Jackson, TN and taught school at Tatumville, TN.
On July 21, 1940 she married Millard Oren Hailey of Bemis, TN.  She worked as a bookkeeper in business with M.O. in Ripley, MS and along with him in the insurance business in the Senatobia, MS area.  In 1992 she was widowed and in 1995 she moved to San Benito, TX.
She is survived by two younger sisters, Hazel Myers formally of Jackson, TN, now of San Benito, TX and Bonnie Stricklin of Ocean Side, CA; two daughters, Jan Hailey Covington Gwin and husband Bill of Gulfport, MS and Lana Hailey Vieh & husband Charles of San Benito, TX; five grandchildren, Jimmie Ann Covington of Gulfport, MS, John Covington of Memphis, TN, Chuck Vieh and wife, Bridgette of San Benito, Hailey Vieh Kruse & husband Jim of Brenham, TX and Austin Vieh and wife Rebecca of Austin, TX; five great grandchildren, Raige Herbert of Gulfport, MS, Landon, Blake, Kaylen, and Dane all of Brenham, TX; and one great great grandson Kin Kaid of Gulfport, MS.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, December 9, 2006, 4 p.m., at Rangerville Baptist Church.  A graveside service will be held Tuesday, December 12, 2006, 11 a.m., at Ridge Crest Cemetery in Jackson, TN.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to your favorite charity or to the Rangerville Baptist Church, C/O Lana Hailey Vieh, 18413 Landrum Pk. Rd., San Benito, TX 78586.
Arrangements are under the direction of Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home.
