Larry L. Johnson

Larry L. Johnson, 66, passed away on March 15th in Harlingen, TX.
Larry was born April 8, 1942 in Marion, Indiana to Leonard and Suzanne (Cline) Johnson.  He was employed as an electrician for GE and Lockhead Martin in Ft. Wayne Indiana and retired after 30 years of dedicated service.
He was very active with the Elks Lodge.  Larry was a Past Exalted Ruler of San Benito Elks Lodge #1661 and held several offices in that Lodge. He went on to hold several positions with Texas Elks South District including Elks National Foundation Committee Chairman where he was very successful in raising funds for the National Foundation.  Larry was elected to the position of Texas Elks State Association Vice President for South District for a one year term.  He was appointed to District Esquire for a one year term and the following year he was appointed District Auditor.  Both are Grand Lodge appointments.  At the time of Larry’s death he had been selected to hold the position of District Deputy Grand Exalted Ruler for South District which is a National Grand Lodge Officer position.  He was to be installed, in that office, during the National Convention in Portland, OR, this coming July.  Larry was a profound Elk and believed in all its principal and goals. The Order of Elks will miss Larry greatly. He enjoyed golfing and motorcycling.
Larry is survived by his son, Michael Johnson; daughter, Tiffany Johnson; grandchildren, Justin Johnson and Chontel Johnson; sister, Rhonda Holbrook; brother, Randy Carr; and nieces and a nephew.
A memorial service will be held at the San Benito Elks Lodge on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 11 a.m.
The family request that memorial donations be made to the Elks National Foundation, c/o San Benito Elks Lodge, 251 Reagan St., San Benito, TX 78586.
