Kayden Lee Schwartz

Kayden Lee Schwartz, 15, passed away on Sunday, February 9, 2025, the victim of a hit-and-run crash.

An outstanding student-athlete, Kayden attended Harlingen Collegiate High School, where he ranked twenty-second in a class of ninety-two students, maintained a 4.68 grade point average, and was on the Honor Roll. He was also a member of the Harlingen Cardinals baseball team.

In his free time, Kayden enjoyed golfing with his dad, listening to music—especially Kendrick Lamar and Tyler, the Creator, building things with his Star Wars Legos, and spending countless hours gaming on his PlayStation 5. He also loved watching his favorite MLB team, the Philadelphia Phillies, and his favorite NFL team, the Houston Texans.

Left to cherish Kayden’s memory are his parents, Joshua and Rebecca Schwartz; siblings, Keagan and Karli; grandparents, Tracey Mason and Toni of Iowa, Kenny Mason and Mindy of Iowa, Sally Ites of Texas, Jeff and Julie Schwartz of Iowa, and; great-grandparents, Kenny and Mary Hansen of Texas and Larry and Geraldine Sites of Pennsylvania. Kayden will also be fondly remembered by his aunts and uncles, his many cousins, countless friends, his teammates and coaches, and his best friends, Grady Brashear, Araceli Garcia, Ethan Garcia, and his beloved cat, Oreo.

Kayden’s family wishes to thank the first responders, law enforcement officers, and crime scene investigators who responded to the site of the crash.

A service to celebrate Kayden’s life will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Wesley United Methodist Church in Harlingen. Everyone is invited to honor Kayden by wearing Houston Texans attire.

Floral tributes are welcome. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Kayden’s honor may be made to Harlingen Collegiate High School, 2901 Medical Drive, Harlingen, Texas 78550 and Harlingen High Cardinals, 1202 Marshal Ave., Harlingen, Texas 78550.
