Kathryn Marie Brandt Wheelus passed away on January 25, 2016, at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen, Texas.
Kathy was born in La Feria, Texas in August of 1942 to Paul and Marie Brandt. She graduated from Santa Rosa High School in 1960 and then attended Business School in Harlingen. Upon completion of her training, she worked as a church secretary in various churches for over 50 years.
Kathy was an accomplished musician sharing her talents by playing piano as well as church organ. Her beautiful voice was appreciated by many congregations. Most recently she was the church organist at Calvary Baptist Church in Harlingen.
In August of 1960, Kathy married Gary Wheelus. Kathy and Gary were married for 55 years.
Surviving in addition to her husband, Gary is a son, Robin and his wife Monica, who live in Natalia, Texas. Also surviving are one aunt, Lois McClaugherty; mother-in-law Myrtle Wheelus; sister-in-law, LaRue Elliff and husband Larry; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Kathy was preceded in death by parents, Paul and Marie Brandt and step-father, Randy Schneider as well as Lloyd Wheelus, father-in-law.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 28th, 2016 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the funeral home.
Memorial service will be held Friday, January 29th, 2016 at 11:00 am at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Brandon Helm officiating. A private burial will be held.
