Judy E. Steele

October 14, 1944 — June 5, 2014

Santa Rosa, TX:
Judy Elaine Steele, 69, passed away June 5, 2014 at the Atrium Place in Harlingen.
Judy was born October 14, 1944.  She was the oldest of three and a graduate of Brenham High School. Shortly thereafter, Judy met the love of her life – Richard “Dickie” Steele who was attending nearby Blinn Junior College.  Soon they were married and founded their new life together in Santa Rosa, Texas where they built a home on the family farm and raised their 2 beloved children; Dana “Steele” Graham and Keith Steele.
Wife of 48 years, Judy was a dedicated homemaker and was one of the most selfless persons you would ever come across.  She never once complained about her own outcome and was more concerned about everyone else than herself.  That was Judy’s way.  She will always be the heart and strength of the family and missed by all who knew her.
Judy aka “Nana” treasured her 2 granddaughters, Katelyn and Haley and would send packages with cookies or fun gifts. She was a simple person who loved spending time with her family and friends, enjoyed working in the yard, watch her hummingbirds through the kitchen window, and sharing light hearted conversation over good food.
A member at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church in Raymondville, Texas, Judy’s Christian faith was unquestioned by her family and those who knew her. Judy’s strong faith was so evident, especially during the last few years during her courageous fight against cancer. She is now free to be an angel in Heaven.
She is survived by her husband, Dickie Steele; sister, Nancy Bowling; brother, Jimmie Gajeske; daughter, Dana “Steele” Graham; son, Keith Steele; granddaughters, Katelyn and Haley Graham; along with a multitude of nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June 17, 2014, at 10 a.m., at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Raymondville with Rev. James Kretzmann.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718 Oklahoma City, OK 73123.
