Judy Jan Elam

Judy Jan Elam peacefully passed from this life on August 29, 2020 at the age of 66. Judy was born on February 8, 1954 in Harlingen, Texas and adopted by the late Steve and Loreen Heims Elam.

Judy was a graduate of San Benito High School, Class of 1972 where she lettered as a Greyhound cheerleader and head cheerleader her senior year. Judy earned the honor of being in the High 5 of her graduating class. Judy attended the University of Texas in Austin and graduated with a Bachelor of Business administration.

After completing her university studies, Judy worked in Houston and McAllen Texas before joining the family newspaper business in Port Isabel, TX as Business Manager of the Port Isabel-South Padre Press and partner in the News Publishing Company, Inc. (The San Benito News and Port Isabel-South Padre Press).

Judy is survived by her brother, Jim (Garie) Elam, Beeville, Texas, niece Mrs. Todd (Carie Lynn) Harrell, Virginia Beach, VA, nephew Steven Gregory (Jessica) Elam, Liberty Hill, TX.

Private interment will take place at Clover Hill Cemetery in Lott, Texas at a later date. Judy’s family wishes to thank Cathy Pool and Jayme Briseno for their compassionate care.
