Juan Manuel Corona Sr., 79, went to be with our Lord on February 7, 2021. He was born July 28, 1941, the son of Juan and Feliz Corona.
He was a beloved son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend. He is preceded in death by his parents, Juan and Feliz Corona, his in-laws, Anastacio and Mercedes Ysaguirre, sisters, Juanita Vega, Consuelo Atkinson, Beatriz Atkinson-Ramos, Eglantina Amaya, and his brother Enrique Corona.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, the love of his life, Linda D. Corona; his children, Maricel Corona, Juan (Christine) Manuel Corona Jr., Alonzo (Marcy) Corona Sr., Alonzo Corona Jr.; grandchildren, Cristina, Sara Jo, Linda Ann, Bryana, Ayden, Emmalee, Illiana, and Jacob; great-grandchildren, David, Amanda, Andy, Dezirae, and Lavender; sisters, Mercedes Gonzalez and Leticia Corona; numerous nephews and nieces who lovingly called him Uncle Meme; and, his beloved brothers-in laws and sisters-in laws.
Juan was native of San Benito, Texas who loved working in his yard and doing his woodwork. After high school, he joined the United States Navy on July 17, 1961 where he honorably served our country as a corpsman. He then worked as a store manager for Firestone until he joined the United States Border Patrol on March 30, 1975, Class 107. He served in the Border Patrol until his retirement on December 23, 1995. After his retirement, he embarked on his greatest career of his life, fulltime Husband and Grandpa.
The Corona family would like to thank the ICU staff at Harlingen Medical Center for the loving care they gave our loved one. Visitation will take place on Thursday, February 11, 2021 from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Buck Ashcraft San Benito Funeral Home. A Recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 7 o’clock on Thursday evening. (Click the link below to view a live-stream of the Recitation of the Holy Rosary.) Rite of Committal and interment will take place Friday, February 12, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Mont Meta Memorial Park. A U. S. Border Patrol Honor Guard will render full military honors.
