Juanita M. Gomez, age 73, entered the Golden Gates of Heaven on May 6, 2024 after a courageous battle with dementia. She departed peacefully at Valley Baptist Medical Center surrounded by her loved ones. Born on April 24, 1951, Juanita will be fondly remembered for her strength, resilience, and unwavering spirit. She found solace in sharing stories of her family's history and remained a source of hope and inspiration to all who had the privilege of knowing her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Juan. Mendiola and Eloisa Lopez Mendiola. Left to cherish Juanita's memory are her devoted husband of 50 years, Albert, her son Jaime (Laura) Gomez, and grandson Ricky. Additionally, she is survived by her loving siblings: Genoveva M. Bejaran, Reynaldo Mendiola, Ermelinda Gonzalez, and Noemi Treviño; as well as several nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who were deeply loved by her.
Juanita will be fondly remembered as a selfless and generous individual who dedicated herself to others despite her own challenges. After retiring, she delighted in baking and making tamales for her family both near and far during the holiday seasons. She cherished socializing with loved ones and found solace in keeping herself occupied during difficult times until it was her time to join the divine.
The Gomez family expresses heartfelt gratitude for the support shown through visits, calls, prayers, cards, and other gestures of sympathy during this time of mourning.
The Gomez family will receive friends and relatives on Thursday, May 09, 2024 from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Buck Ashcraft San Benito Funeral Home. A recitation of the Holy Rosary will take place at 7:00 o’clock Thursday evening. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 10, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. at St. Benedict Catholic Church. Following the Mass, Juanita will be laid to rest at Mont Meta Memorial Park.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are Fidel Bejaran, Priscilla Trevino, Ricky Rendon, Sergio Gonzalez, Santiago Cruz, and Adrian Trevino.
