Juana M. (Maciel) Padilla

September 15, 1957 — August 27, 2020

Juana M. Padilla, 62, passed away August 27, 2020 after a brief illness.  Born on September 15, 1957 to the late Catarino Maciel & Maria del Carmen Ortega Maciel and raised in Sabastian Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Catarino and Maria del Carmen Maciel; her brothers, Salvador (Flavia) Maciel, Javier Maciel; her sister Luz Ortega and her in-laws, Jesus and Catarina Padilla.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Armando Padilla, Sr.; her children, Amanda Padilla, Belinda (Alejandro) Sanchez, Anabel Padilla, Armando (Samantha) Padilla, Jr., Antonio Padilla, Jose (Mayra) Padilla; 11 grandchildren, Aries, Emily, Lorelai, Angel, Alex, Alexis, Eddard, Kitza, Sadye Alyssa and Samantha; her sisters, Maria del Carmen Galvan, Serafina Maciel, and many loved ones.

When Juana’s children were young, the phrase “stay-at-home-mom” did not exist. It was usual for women to stay home with the children while their husbands worked. Nevertheless, even by the standards of the era, Juana was an exceptional wife, mother and grandmother.  She cared deeply for her family, neighbors, and parishioners. Juana was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in La Paloma TX.  She did this not of obligation, but because of who she was.  She was always the first to offer a helping hand, despite any circumstance.

The Padilla family will receive friends and relatives on Sunday, August 30, 2020 from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Monday, August 31, 2020 from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at San Benito Funeral Home.  A recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 7 o’clock on Sunday and Monday evenings.

On Tuesday, September 1, 2020, family, and friends will meet at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in La Paloma, Texas at 1:00 p.m. to celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial.  Afterwards, Juana will be laid to rest at La Paloma Cemetery.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Armando Padilla, Antonio Padilla, Alejandro Sanchez, Angel Sanchez, Alex Sanchez, Aries Saldivar, and Jose Padilla.
