Rio Hondo, TX – Juan T. Garza, 91, went home to be with the Lord on May 11, 2012. He was born August 19, 1920, to Faustino and Guadalupe Garza in Brownsville, TX.
He was a devoted, generous and loving husband, father and grandfather and will be greatly missed. He enjoyed making people laugh so he always carried a smile and joke wherever he went.
Juan is survived by his wife of 62 years, Otila S. Garza; his daughters, Juanita G. (Jaime) Perez of Harlingen and Elizabeth G. (Ricardo) Chavez of Rio Hondo; 5 grandchildren, Jaime (Gina+) Perez, Jr., Mark Perez, Rebecca Perez, Ricardo (Erica) Chavez, Jr., and Jonathan Chavez; 2 great grandchildren, Alexa Chavez and Abram Perez; a sister, Felicitas Garza; and Juan Jose (Dominga) Sanchez who he considered a son and his children; and countless other friends and family.
Visitation will be held on Monday, May 14, 2012 from 10:00 A.M. to 9:00 P.M. with the Holy Rosary to be prayed at 7:00 P.M. at San Benito Funeral Home.
The funeral precession will depart San Benito Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 15, 2012 at 9:30 A.M. for a 10:00 A.M. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Helen’s Catholic Church in Rio Hondo. Interment will follow to Las Yescas Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jaime Perez, Jaime Perez, Jr., Ricardo Chavez, Ricardo Chavez, Jr., Jonathan Chavez, and Juan Jose Sanchez.
