Joyce L. Taubert

August 30, 1947 — January 16, 2017

Joyce L. Taubert, passed away peacefully at her residence surrounded by her loving family on Monday, the 16th day of January, 2017.
She was born to Robert T. and Carrie Silva in Tampa, Florida on August 30th, 1947.
She lived in several different cities in the U.S. growing up, but especially enjoyed the early teen years she spent in New Orleans, LA.
Her father's employment brought her family to Brownsville where she graduated from Brownsville High School.
She was employed by the Los Fresnos CISD in the Superintendent's Office and then later accepted a position with the San Benito CISD where she was a dedicated & proficient employee, retiring after 35 years of service in the Personnel Office.
She waged a terrific battle that provided her with more time to spend with her family and reminisce on all the great moments of her life, and for everyone to say the things that shouldn't have been left unsaid.
That extra time she fought for, gave her the time to reflect on the younger members of her family.  What the future might bring for them, what she could do to help shape their future and to envision the outcome of her grandchildren and great grandchildren lives.
That time also gave her the precious moment of being able to meet and hold the 2 great- granddaughters waiting to be born.
She loved traveling and always looked forward to her planned vacations.  Her favorite places were Lake Tahoe and Las Vegas.  She especially enjoyed her times in the casinos where she had the knack for hitting the jackpots. She also tried her hand at snow skiing and mastered the Bunny Slopes in no time!
In addition to her travels, her most cherished times were her Friday night sleep overs with her grandchildren and that has now become a Family Tradition.
She was preceded in death by her parents Robert T. and Carrie Silva.
She is survived by her husband of 42 years, C. Gene Taubert, Harlingen, TX,  her son Kenneth Wolcott & his wife, Linda Rangel Wolcott, Los Fresnos, TX,  her son Mark Wolcott, Somerset, KY, her son Kyle Taubert & his wife Kerrie Taubert, Seminole, TX and her daughter Connally Allen & her husband Chris Allen, Irving, CA.
She is also survived by her sister Julie Hoover & her husband John Hoover, Houston, TX and her grandchildren: K. Bryan Wolcott, II & his wife Cristal Oyervidez Wolcott, Los Fresnos, TX,  Aaron Wolcott, Los Fresnos, TX, Amber Riggs & her husband Richard Riggs, Somerset, KY, Ashley Wolcott, Somerset KY, Kendall Taubert, Seminole, TX, & Kolton Taubert, Seminole, TX and her great-granchildren: Caylee Faith Wolcott, Los Fresnos, TX, Christi Grace Wolcott, Los Fresnos, TX, Elizabeth Katherine Riggs, Somerset, KY
She is additionally survived by her brothers and sisters-in-law J.B. & Sue Ann Taubert , Rio Hondo,TX,  Dennis & Donna Taubert, Harlingen, TX,  her Nieces & Nephews Brady Taubert & wife Karen Taubert, Rio Hondo,TX,  Willis Taubert & wife Lela Taubert,Cotton Center, TX, Darla Taubert, Rio Hondo,TX, Joan Zuniga, Houston, TX and Jason Hoover & Wife Nicole Hoover, Los Angeles, CA.
There will be a visitation on Friday, January 20th at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home located at 710 Ed Carey Drive, Harlingen, TX from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
Joyce was a very private person and per her wishes there will be a private Memorial Service at a date & time yet to be determined.
We would like to thank her caregivers from Gentiva Hospice: Lisa, Ruth, Maria and Yolanda with a special thanks to her nurse TJ for going above and beyond care giving to Joyce.
Also a heartfelt thank you to the many friends and co-workers for all prayers and acts of kindness expressed to Joyce & Gene through her lengthy illness.  God Bless You.
