José Lorenzo Hernández

José Lorenzo Hernández, 81, passed peacefully from this life on august 11, 2021.  He was born to the late Lorenzo and Juana P. Hernández on March 19, 1940 in San Benito, Texas.

José was a U.S. Army veteran who served during the Vietnam War.  He was a longtime employee of Feldman’s Liquor & Wines before his retirement.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lorenzo and Juana P. Hernández; sister, Juanita Hernández González; brothers, José P. Hernández, Guadalupe P. Hernández, and Jose Cruz Hernández.

Left to treasure his memory is his loving wife, Rosario Vega Hernández; his children, José Lorenzo Hernández Jr. and Patricia Ann Hernández; grandchildren, Brittany Herron and Savanna A. Hernández; and five great-grandchildren. José is also survived by his brother, Lorenzo P. (Martha) Hernández; brother-in-law, Luis Gonzalez; and sister-in-law, Virginia Hernández.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, August 16, 2021 at 9:00 a.m. at St. Theresa Catholic Church, Rev. Fr. Joe Villalón, Celebrant.  Visitation will take place on Monday, August 16, 2021 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Buck Ashcraft San Benito Funeral Home. A recitation of the Holy Rosary will be from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.  Funeral procession will depart the funeral home Tuesday, August 17, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. to Mont Meta Memorial Park Chapel of Peace Mausoleum where José will be laid to rest with full military honors.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are José Cruz Hernández, Guadalupe Hernández Jr., Eli Villarreal, Joseph Hernández, Manuel Robles, and Cirildo Piñon.
