Joseph Edward Mann, Jr., age 65, passed away December 23, 2007 following a long battle with FTD/ALS.
Ed was born in Salesville, TX April 21, 1942 to Joseph Edward Mann and Ethel Louise Bennett Mann. Ed grew up in Ft. Worth, TX graduating in 1960 from Paschal High School. He received a Bachelor of Business Administration in 1964 from Texas A&M University where he was a member of the Corps of Cadets and the Ross Volunteers. Ed received a Bachelor of Laws in May 1967 from the University of Texas Austin. From 1967 to 1969, Ed served in the A.G. Corps of the Army as a Captain in Korat, Thailand. In 1969, Ed began working as a C.P.A. with Arthur Anderson, Houston, TX. In February 1973, Ed became an associate with Sternberg, Skaggs, and Koppel law firm of Harlingen, TX. In 1976, he opened his own practice and continued on his own until he was joined by his son, Jason Roger Mann in 1998. Ed was Board Certified in Tax Law and Probate and Estate Planning and was licensed by the Supreme Court of Texas, the United States Southern District, United States Tax Court, and the United States Supreme Court. In September 2005, Ed retired due to his illness.
Ed was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Edward Mann, and his brother, Jim R. Mann. Ed is survived by his mother, Louise Mann, his sister Mary (Rev. Scott Endress), and his sister-in-law, Mary Louise Mann.
He also leaves behind his wife of over 40 years, Susan, his daughter, Jennifer (Adam) Ezzell, his son Jason (Michelle) Mann, four grandsons, Dalton, Jackson, Hayden and Mason Mann, as well as numerous beloved nieces and nephews.
Ed’s family wished to thank Marti and Voncille Anderson, Armando and Yolanda Pena, and Heart of the Valley Hospice for their loving care of Ed.
Visitation will be held December 29, 2007 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm at the Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home. Services will be held at 2:00 pm on December 30, 2007 at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church followed by Internment at Mont Meta Memorial Park, San Benito, TX.
