San Benito, TX: SPC Joseph Alaniz, Jr. 23, of San Benito passed away Sunday, December 19, 2010 at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen.
He had joined the Army Reserves in 2006 after graduating from Rio Hondo High School that same year. He had been deployed to Iraq in 2009 and recently returned home this year.
Joseph is survived by his father, Joseph (Norma) Alaniz; his mother, Anna Ramirez; his sisters, Veronica Crystal Alaniz and LeAnn Juarez; his paternal grandparents, Amador and Francisca Alaniz; his maternal grandparents, Margarito and + Elia Ramirez; his aunts and uncles, Jose L. Ramirez, Reymundo (Dianna) Ramirez, Becky Ramirez, Armando (Janie) Alaniz, Delia (Leonard) Molina, Susana (Pete) Fonseca, Maria (Sam) Reyes, Ben Alaniz, and Consuelo Alaniz.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 21, 2010 from 4:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. and on Wednesday, December 22, 2010 from 8:00 A.M. to 9:00 P.M. with a Holy Rosary recited both evenings at 7:00 P.M. at San Benito Funeral Home.
Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, December 23, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church located at 317 W. Magnolia Ave. in La Feria. Committal Service will follow to Heavenly Grace Cemetery in La Feria.
