Josefa Martinez

San Benito, TX – Josefa Martinez, 83, of San Benito, TX passed away Monday, September 26, 2012 at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen.

She was a lifelong parishioner and a very active member of St. Benedict Catholic Church.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Gregorio Martinez & Victoria Delgadillo Martinez; her husband, Baldomero Martinez; her son, Baltazar Martinez; her daughter, Elfida Contreras; and a sister, Maria Martinez.

Josefa is survived by her children, Roberto (Viola) Garcia, Olga Sauceda, Graciela Salas all of San Benito; Maria Elena (Ruben) Garza of Rock Falls, IL; Jose (Herlinda) Martinez, Cruz (Irma) Martinez both of Sterling, IL; and Esteban “Steve” (Nora) Martinez of San Benito; her brothers and sisters, Felicita Martinez of Reynosa, Tamps., Mexico, Ofelia (Juan) Quintanilla of San Benito, Emilio (Irma) Martinez of Gary, IN., and Santiago (Berta) Martinez of Rock Falls, IL.; 25 grandchildren, 50 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral precession will depart San Benito Funeral Home on Saturday, September 29, 2012 at 12:30 P.M. for a 1:00 P.M. Funeral Mass at St. Benedict Catholic Church.  Interment will follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park.
