Jose Angel Suarez, 100, a long time resident of San Benito, went to be with our lord on July 11, 2010. He was born October 2, 1909, in San Pedro, TX to Esteban Suarez, Sr. and Guadalupe Tapia.
Jose Angel was a veteran of World War II and often remembered his time in the military, the places he traveled to, and the solders he served with while on active duty, and he felt it a great honor to have served his country. He worked in construction most of his life and was proud of the bridges and streets he worked on, alongside two of his sons who worked with him for the same companies. He loved being outdoors, working with his hands, building things, planning gardens, and he took great pride in everything he did. One of his greatest joys was sitting outside in good weather, visiting with friends and family, and enjoying his favorite snacks; fruit, ice cream, and especially, raspas. He was very proud of all his family, taking interest in all we accomplished and expressing his pride in our successes. He always stood by us and supported us in all situations and his strength and endurance were a great inspiration to us. He lived a rich and full life. We will miss him deeply.
