Jose Soto, Sr., 95, went to meet our Lord on November 22, 2007. Jose was born on July 19, 1912 in San Fernando, Tamps., Mexico to Cruz and Dorotea Soto. He was a lifelong resident of Harlingen and will be remembered as a faithful husband, father and loving grandpa.
Jose was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers; Eduvijes Soto, Cruz Soto, Martin Soto and Antonio Soto, two sisters Simona Casares and Maria de Jesus Soto Villanueva and a son-in-law Apolonio Gutierrez.
He is survived by his loving wife Adela C. Soto, his children Lorenza Ester Gutierrez of McAllen, TX, Estela(Lee) Villarreal of Austin, TX., Jose(Irene) Soto, Jr., of San Antonio, TX, Ernesto(Dora L.) Soto of Edinburg, TX, Manuel(Linda) Soto of Adkins, TX, Gilbert(Kathy) Soto of Harlingen, 13 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held today, Friday November 23, 2007 from 2:00 pm until 9:00 pm at the Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home with the holy rosary to be prayed at 7:00 pm.
The funeral procession will depart the Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home on Saturday November 24, 2007 at 8:30 am for a 9:00 am Mass of Christian burial at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church with Fr. Tom Pincelli as the celebrant. Interment will follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park in San Benito, TX.
Pallbearers will be Apolonio Bernardo Gutierrez, Jose Enrique Soto, Lee Villarreal, III, Patrick Soto, Brian Joseph Soto and L. Dominic Pena.
