San Benito, TX- Jose Olivarez Cantu, 78, entered into eternal rest Saturday, October 6, 2012 at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, raising his goats and horses; he loved to spend time with his grandkids and great grandkids.
He is preceded in death by his grandson, Sammuel Lee Cisneros; and his parents, Santos Olivarez Resendez and Damiana Cantu de Olivarez.
Jose is survived by his wife of 59 years, Guadalupe “Lupita” Olivarez; his children, Santos (Lupana) Olivarez, Dora (Juan) Borjas, and Juan Jose (Cristela) Olivarez; his brothers and sister, Eusebio Olivarez, Santiago Olivarez, Dominga Lomas; 13 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 9, 2012 from 10:00 A.M. to 9:00 P.M with the Holy Rosary to be prayed at 7:00 P.M. at San Benito Funeral Home.
The funeral precession will depart San Benito Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at 9:30 A.M. for a 10:00 A.M. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Benedict Catholic Church with Father Ignacio Luna as celebrant. Interment will follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park in San Benito.
Pallbearers will be Santos Olivarez, Juan Jose Olivarez, Santos Olivarez, Jr., Eric Borjas, Joshua Gonzalez, John De Leon, Martin Arizmendi, and Hector Olivarez.
