SAN BENITO, TX. – Jose Israel Mata, Jr., born on the 14th of May 1944 in San Benito, Texas, died on Friday, the 5th of February 2016 at his residence. He was seventy-one years old.
Mr. Mata was a veteran, honorably discharged from the United States Army.
His loving parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jose and Arminda Mata; and a brother, Secundino Mata, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his very special friend, Ms. Elsie Gomez; and his son, Jose Israel Parra. Also surviving Jose are his siblings Elvia (Jaime) Castaneda, Oscar (Mary) Mata, Jaime Mata, Estela (Jesus) Hernandez, Esther (Alfredo Sr.) Lerma, Arminda (Manuel) Guzman, Adalberto Mata, and Arturo (Elvira) Mata; as well as numerous nephews and nieces.
Visiting hours are on Sunday, the 7th of February 2016, beginning at three o’clock in the afternoon and concluding at nine o’clock at night, with a recitation of the holy rosary to begin at seven o’clock Sunday evening within the San Benito Funeral Home Chapel, 1400 West Highway 77, San Benito, Texas 78586.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, the 8th of February 2016, at ten o’clock in the morning, in St. Benedict’s Catholic Church, 351 South Bowie Street, San Benito, Texas 78586.
Committal services will then follow immediately thereafter at Mont Meta Memorial Park in San Benito.
