José Ángel Ramírez

José Ángel Ramírez, 84, passed peacefully from this life surrounded by his loving family at his home on Thursday, January 14, 2021.  He was born to José Ramírez and Antonia González Ramírez on October 20, 1936 in México.

José Ángel was a longtime employee of Cameron County Water Irrigation District #6.  He retired from the Irrigation District after 25 years of faithful service.

He loved fishing, playing the maquinitas, playing cards and lotería, and woodworking.

José Ángel is survived by his children, Ricardo (Ana Laura) Ramírez, Raquel Ramírez, Rosario (Steve) Cook, Rebecca Cerda, Rene (Gabriela) Ramírez, Rodolfo (Eva) Ramírez, Rosa Belia (Jesús) Infante, Rosa María (Rufino) Muñoz, José Ángel (Lydia) Ramírez, Jr., Imelda (Sergio) Soriano, Lourdes (Felipe) Muñoz, and Oralia (Tino) Rios; 28 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren plus 3 on the way.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Isabel Ramírez; a daughter, Angelina Mata; his parents, José and Antonia Ramírez, his siblings, Jesús, Gilberto, Oralia, María, and Reyes.

Visitation will take place on Saturday, January 16, 2021 and Sunday, January 17, 2021 from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM.  A Recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 7 o’clock Saturday and Sunday evenings. Graveside service and interment will take place on Monday, January 18, 2021 at 10:00 AM at Las Yescas Cemetery.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Michael Ramírez, Rene Ramírez, Jr., Rodolfo Ramírez, Jr., Ángel Ramírez, Rufino Muñoz, Jr., and Felipe Muñoz, Jr.
