John R. Olson, 78, passed away on March 1, 2014 in La Hacienda Healthcare in Harlingen, TX due to lung cancer.
John was born April 22, 1935 in Assaria, Kansas to Joseph and Clara Olson. He was a high school graduate and was employed by Farmland Co-op for about 20 years and by the Harlingen School District for over 20 years as a Special Education Bus Driver. John was a member the Elks for over 30 years and of the Lutheran faith. He enjoyed boating, water skiing, dancing with his wife Pat, shooting pool and smoking his pipe.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Olson of Harlingen, TX; daughter, Johnie (John) Olson and their children Chip, John, Michael of Ft. Worth, TX; son, Michael (Laurie) Olson and their daughter, Erin of Amarillo, TX; step-son, Gordon (Pam) Wehner and their children Troy, Trevor and Trina; step-daughter, Patti Wehner and her children, Ryan and Kyle; step-daughter, Paula (Don) Whaley and their children Mason and Lexie; and many great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Clara Olson; his first wife, Virginia Mae Leopp and daughter, Sandy Olson.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, March 5, 2014, 11 a.m., at Eastgate Mobile Home Park with Jim Paydon officiating.
