John Leonard Marlow

HARLINGEN:
John Leonard Marlow, 58, a partner in the accounting firm of Chidester, Marlow, and Hamby entered into eternal rest on the evening of December 27, 2007.  He passed away at home surrounded by family and close personal friends.
He was born in Tryon, North Carolina on August 12, 1949 to William Loretta Marlow and Helen Turpin Marlow (deceased).
John was a 1967 graduate of San Benito High School where he was actively involved in Scouting and the Kiwanis sponsored Key Club.  He was also a 1975 graduate of Southern Methodist University in Dallas with a degree in finance.  John served two years in the U.S. Army receiving an Honorable Discharge in 1976.
John Marlow was an active civic leader in his work with the Kiwanis and a founding member, former president and permanent treasurer of the Island Riders, a motorcycle enthusiast group.
Mr. Marlow is survived by his loving and caring wife of 31 years, Betty (Morris) Marlow, his father William; four brothers Bill O. Marlow, Bert (Kathy) Marlow, Fitz (Gladys) Marlow, Charles (Leslee) Marlow; brothers-in-law, Tim (Karen) Morris and Lewie (Peggy) Morris; and mother and father-in-law Betty and Russell Morris.  John is also survived by two nephews and numerous nieces.
Services will be held Monday, December 31, 2007 at the First Baptist Church in Harlingen at 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in John Marlow’s name may be made to Kiwanis International, in care of Harlingen Kiwanis Club, P.O. Box 462, Harlingen, TX 78550.
