San Benito, TX- Joe Rubio, Jr. “Widow” entered into the Kingdom of Heaven on November 19, 2012. Born on July 3, 1947 to Jose V. Rubio and Ester Villarreal Rubio, Joe was known to many people as “Widow” from his younger days and this became a familiar greeting to family and friends. Joe was a person who loved life, from having barbeques to polka dancing to hanging out with his buddies. He was funny in his own way, he was a great cook and he loved his ranch and his animals. You could tell when he was around by his unique voice. His memory will be treasured by those who loved him. You will definitely be missed.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and his sister, Belen Rubio.
Joe is survived by his wife of 33 years, Janie Rubio; his daughter, Rhonda Rubio; his son, Joe Rubio III; his grandchildren, J.C., Tony, and Stephanie Rubio; also surviving are his brothers, George Rubio and Graciano Rubio; his sisters, Belinda Rubio and Minerva Hinojosa; his aunts, Josefina Villarreal and Consuelo V. Amaya; and numerous cousins, nephews, and nieces.
A memorial visitation will be held on Monday, November 26, 2012 from 1:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M with the Holy Rosary to be prayed at 7:00 P.M. at San Benito Funeral Home.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Benedict Catholic Church. Services will conclude after mass.
Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Cavazos, Hector Mancillas, Doel Silva, Joe Falcon, Andrew Gunnoe and Max Galvan.
