Joaquina Cruz Sanchez

On the early morning of Thursday, September 12, 2024, Joaquina Cruz Sanchez, wife, mother, and grandmother passed away at the age of 91. Joaquina was born in November of 1932 in Laureles, Texas to Joaquin and Guadalupe Cruz.

In January of 1955, she married Jose Juan Sanchez. Together they raised eight children: Daniel, Delia, Diana, David, Esther, Mercedes, Lydia, and Jesus.  Joaquina found joy in gardening, knitting, and participating in Bible studies, which enriched her life and the lives of those around her.

Joaquina is preceded in death by her parents Joaquin and Guadalupe, siblings, husband Jose Juan, and daughter Esther. She is survived by her sibling Martin, her children Daniel, Delia, Diana, David, Mercedes, Lydia, and Jesus as well as her grandchildren, Jessica, Brian, Briana, Bianca, Brooke, David Jr., Jacklyn, Amanda, Michaela, Matthew, Sarah, and Joseph.

Visitation will be held Thursday, September 19, 2024 from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Buck Ashcraft San Benito Funeral Home in San Benito, Texas.  A Funeral Mass in her honor will be held on Friday, September 20, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Harlingen, Texas. Burial will follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park in San Benito, Texas.
