Joan "Jonay" Estelle Dane

Joan “Jonay” B. Dane born Estelle Becker passed away on Sunday, April 18, 2021 at 79 years of age.  She was born November 4, 1941 in Brooklyn, New York to the parents of Fortune Haber and Eli Becker.

She resided in Buffalo until the age of 19 when she moved to Houston, TX to follow her aspirations.  She went on to teach Fashion Merchandising and Modeling, owning her own agencies across South Texas, including Houston, San Benito, Harlingen and Brownsville.  She was a wonderful, loving wife, mother, stepmother and great grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her parents and younger brother, Joseph Becker. Joan is survived by her husband of 38 years, Thomas Preston Dane and children: Michael Brochstein, Marc Brochstein, Samantha Dane; step children: Jim Dane, Scott Dane, Shawn Dane, Courtney Dane and Joseph Dane. She was grandmother to Macey, Dalton, Zachary, Preston, Ryan, Shea, Seth, Isabella, Sofia, Arya, Medea, Chloe, Max, Loren, and Dane; and, great-grandmother to Vincent, Sebastian, Damien, and Salem.

There will be a viewing from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, April 23, 2021 at Buck Ashcraft San Benito Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held on Saturday April 24, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Mont Meta Memorial Park, 26170 TX-345, San Benito, Texas.
