Joan (Morgan) White passed away on June 24, 2022 in Harlingen, Texas. Joan was born December 24, 1935 to Carl Earl Morgan and Ora Edith (Thompson) Morgan in Mullens, West Virginia. She graduated from Sherman High School in Seth, West Virginia in 1954. Joan met her husband Modock Otis White, Jr. while attending Concord College (now University) in Athens, West Virginia. They married on October 29, 1955 and had two sons, Modock O. White III and Mark David White.
The Whites moved to Indianapolis, Indiana in 1963 where they lived for twenty-five years before relocating to Harlingen, Texas. Joan was an avid golfer and past president of the Texas Senior Women’s Golf Association. Joan was very active in the Harlingen Country Club. The Whites were longtime members of Valley Praise United Methodist Church. Joan enjoyed traveling with her husband and keeping journals of their trips abroad. Most of all, Joan loved time spent with her family. She also loved her West Virginia heritage and visited there often.
She is predeceased by her husband, Modock Jr., and her siblings Sydney Carl, David Lee, Donna Sue and Shirley Jean. Joan is survived by her sons, Modock III and Mark, her seven grandchildren: Modock O. IV, Erin Elizabeth, Kenneth Carl, Elaine Allison, William Jacob, A.J., Mark McKenzie, a great-granddaughter, Sarah Rosa and many nieces and nephews. Joan will be laid to rest beside her husband in Princeton, West Virginia during a private ceremony.
