Joan E. (Thomas) Cooley, 75, passed away on Tuesday, September 14, 2010 at her residence after a lengthy illness.
Joan was born January 10, 1935 in Covington, Indiana to Dale E. and Edith Elizabeth Thomas.  Joan was very talented having a LVN Degree, being a licensed realtor, and a certified interior designer.  She received a cosmetology diploma and owned and operated Hair Styles By Joan in Findlay, Ohio.  Joan was member of the First Baptist Church of Harlingen, Harlingen Country Club, 12:30 Club, Christian Women’s Club, First Baptist Church Choir and Harlingen Performing Arts Theatre.  She had a passion for sewing, music, arts and crafts and interior decorating and design.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, one sister, one child Billy King Cunningham, and one step-son Mark Cooley.
She is survived by her husband Edward (Ned) Cooley; children, Terry Millon, Steve Cunningham (Kathy), Lori Saldana (Marc), Pam Neunsinger (John); grandchildren: Jacob Vicander, Steven Millon, Chasity Yontz,  Billy and Ryan Cunningham, Brandon Ede, Jared Ede, Taylor Saldana, Amis Mckenzie, Drew and Haley Dietrich, Amanda and Samantha Neunsinger; great grandchildren, Caleb Ede and Tripp, Tristan, and Ava Grace Yontz; and one sister, Patsy (Dick) Schering.
Visitation hours will be held from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. with the family present from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home on Thursday, September 16, 2010.
Funeral services will be held Friday, September 17, 2010, 11:00 A.M., at the First Baptist Church, 501 E. Van Buren, Harlingen, Texas with Rev. Wade Hood officiating.  Interment will follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park in San Benito.
Pallbearers will be Brandon and Jared Ede, Steven Millon, Marc Saldana, Jacob Vicander, Joel Brotzman and John Neunsinger.

The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to Lois Day for her friendship and  tireless care given to Joan during her illness, to Kathy Walker for her tender care during the night, and to the Odyssey Healthcare Staff, especially Louise, Annie, and Sonia
