Jesús Rodriguez Jr., born on January 2, 1947, in Harlingen, Texas, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on March 25, 2025, at the age of 78.
After graduating from San Benito High School in 1966, Jesus was drafted in 1967 to serve his country in the Vietnam War. He attained the rank of Sergeant, completed his military service honorably, and returned home in 1969.
Jesús was a devoted husband to Irma Rodriguez for sixty years and a loving father to Leticia, Jesús, Jesús J., Teresita, José, and Linda Rodriguez.
He leaves a legacy of strength, kindness, and unyielding love for family, and he will be profoundly missed by everyone who knew him.
Jesús is preceded in death by his parents, Jesús Rodriguez Sr. and Ninfa De Los Santos Rodriguez; sisters Lydia Salazar, Diana Rodriguez, and Guadalupe Rodriguez; brother Martin Rodriguez; and the Rodriguez twins.
Left to treasure Jesus’ memory are his loving wife of sixty years, Irma S. Rodriguez; children Leticia Rodriguez, Jesse Rodriguez Jr. (Rosie), Jesse J. Rodriguez Jr., José Crecencio Rodriguez, Teresita Rodriguez, and Linda Marie Rodriguez; eighteen grandchildren: Kristal N. Herrera (Stephen Herrera), Dominic Martin, Joey F. Garcia, Anthony T. Garcia, Kayla R. Collado, Samantha A. Garcia, Nathaniel A. Delagarza, Mariah M. Rodriguez, Arianna N. Corona, Kiana M. Corona, Alejandro J. Delagarza, Noah M. Corona, Viviana A. Rodriguez (Caleb Rodriguez), Nicholas N. Corona, Cristian G. Delagarza, Gavino J. Delagarza, Jose C. Rodriguez Jr., and Ryan M. Rodriguez; and his fourteen great-grandchildren: Evelyn Herrera, Stephen Herrera Jr., Myles Herrera, Mia Laughlin, Athena Collado, Aletheia Collado, Jeremiah Rodriguez, Kehlani Flores, Elowyn Delagarza, Zaedyn Martinez, Jaziah Corona, Zaniyah Corona, Keno Delagarza, and Maximus Delagarza.
Jesús is also survived by his siblings: Lucinda Rodriguez, Ninfa Martinez, José L. Rodriguez, Juan M. Rodriguez, Nelda Duers, Felicitas Rodriguez, Sylvia Rodriguez, Edna Rodriguez, Martin R. Rodriguez, and María Cordona, who are all left to cherish his memory.
The Rodriguez family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday, April 5, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Buck Ashcraft San Benito Funeral Home. A chapel service will begin at 12 p.m. Services for Jesús Rodriguez Jr. will conclude on Saturday afternoon, followed by a gathering at Grace Point Fellowship to reminisce and celebrate the life of Jesus.
