Jesús L. Barrientes

August 22, 1940 — November 15, 2021

Jesús Lozano Barrientes of San Benito, Texas, passed away on Monday, November 15, 2021 surrounded by his loving family.  He was born to loving parents, Jesús Lozano and Concepción Méndez de Lozano, and raised by loving parents, Juan and Lilia Barrientes.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Jesús and Concepción Lozano, and Juan and Lilia Barrientes; loving sisters, Juanita Gomez and Iris Barrientes; and brother, José Lozano.

Jesús is survived by his adoring wife of 60 years, Lourdes G. Barrientes; six children, Cristina (Robert) Masch, Lilia (Richard) Mota, David (Mary) Barrientes, Estella Barrientes, Guillermo (Schulunda) Barrientes, and Steve Barrientes; 20 grandchildren, Danny, Laura, Cindy, Alex, Christopher, Adriana, Marisol, Anthony III, Martin, Denim, LJ, Jackie, Guillermo Jr., Jesús, Gabriela, Mireya, Jester, Justin, Justice, and Justine; 18 great-grandchildren, Mia, Bianca, Maddie, Josie, Dominic, Will, Riley, Ethan, Augustus, Bethany, Bella, Tonito, Brayden, RJ, Jazleen, Karter, Elleya, and Evelynn.

He is also survived by his brothers, Guillermo (Andrea), Lionel, and Hector Barrientes, Manuel Jesús Lozano; sister, Aurora Lozano; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and loyal dog, Coco.

He loved Tejano music and dancing, was an avid Dallas Cowboys, Chicago Cubs, and Chicago Bulls fan, enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, carpentry, and was an excellent handyman.

Even though most remember Jesús for his quiet demeanor, he was a big jokester.

In 1966, Jesús moved to Indiana and went to work for LTV Steel. He was a dedicated and valued employee of LTV for 35 years until his retirement in 2001. Four years later, in 2005, he moved back to Texas.

After years of battling illness, Jesús transitioned to be with his loved ones and our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was loved by all who knew him.  He will be missed very much by his loving family.

Visitation will take place on Thursday, November 18, 2021 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Friday, November 19, 2021 from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Buck Ashcraft San Benito Funeral Home.  A Funeral Liturgy will begin Friday afternoon at 2 o’clock in Chapel A of the funeral home with the Rev. Fr. Mario Alberto Castro officiating. (Click the link below to view a live-stream of the Funeral Liturgy.) Interment will follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are David Barrientes, Guillermo Barrientes Sr., Guillermo Barrientes Jr., Jesús Barrientes, Daniel Masch, Alex Masch, Christopher Masch, Anthony Puente, and Martin Puente.
