Jesús H. Hernandez

Jesús H. Hernandez, 82, peacefully passed from this life at his home on Friday, March 18, 2022 surrounded by his loving family.  Jesus was born to the late Pablo and Soila Hernandez on October 17, 1939 in San Benito, Texas.

He was a U.S. Army veteran and a valued employee of Lonestar Beer Distributing Company until his retirement. Jesus was of the Catholic faith and a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church. For more than ten years, he was an active Knight in the Knights of Columbus.

Jesús was preceded in death by his parents, Pablo and Soila Hernandez, one brother, and three sisters.

Left to treasure his memory is Jesús’ wife of 64 years, Estela M. Hernandez; his children, Blanca (Ruben) Garcia, Minerva (Joe) Gutierrez, Leticia Hernandez, Gracie (Johnny) Perales, Jesse Hernandez, Jr.; ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; two brothers and four sisters.

The Hernandez family will receive relatives and friends from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, March 21, 2022 at Buck Ashcraft San Benito Funeral Home. A recitation of the Holy Rosary will take place on Monday at 6:30 p.m.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 22, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Theresa Catholic Church. Following the Mass, Jesus will be laid to rest at Mont Meta Memorial Park with full military honors performed by the Honor Guard of American Legion Post 205 of Harlingen/San Benito.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Jesse Hernandez Jr., Ruben Garcia III, Johnny Gonzales, Steven Ray Hernandez, Randy Reza, Erik Hernandez, Johnny Perales, and Alex Salinas.
