Harlingen:
Jesse Raymond Franks, beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on March 7, 2008. He had been a Harlingen resident for more than 50 years. Raymond was born on November 8, 1916 in Lockhart, TX to Jesse Langford Franks and Cora Ethel Magee. He was raised in Sparenberg, TX and also resided in San Diego, CA before moving to the Valley in 1946.
Raymond worked for Lenoir Folsom in Harlingen as a mechanic, service manager, and new car salesman for more than 35 years. He spent his retirement crafting furniture in the woodshop behind the home in Harlingen where he had lived since 1956.
Raymond was preceded in death last year by Madesta Franks, his wife of nearly 70 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Harlingen.
Raymond is survived by his son Larry (Barbara) Franks of Round Rock, TX; daughter Beverly Byrd of Harlingen; grandchildren Laurie (Paul) Campbell of Leander, TX; Kevin Franks of Austin, TX; Melanie Franks of Round Rock; and great-grandchildren Kyle Campbell and Carter Campbell of Leander.
Visitation will be held at the Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home on Monday, March 10 from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m., with the family in attendance from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.
A graveside service will be conducted on Tuesday, March 11, 10:30 a.m., at Restlawn Memorial Park in La Feria. The guest book can be signed at www.buck-ashcraft.com.
