Jerry D. Hornecker, 65, passed away, Friday, February 28, 2014 at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen
Jerry was born on October 13, 1948 in Prosser, WA to Johnny and Louise (Beal) Hornecker. He was a graduate of Seaman High School and Washburn University. He also served with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
Jerry was employed with BNSF (Burlington Northern Santa Fe) Railroad for over 30 years as an accountant.
Jerry loved to joke with people and to make everyone laugh. His hobbies included playing cards, farkle, cribbage and entering the Publisher Clearing House Daily!
He is survived by his wife, Carol; step-father, Bob Simons of Topeka, KS; daughters, Amy (Wade) Mullins, Brandy (Mike) Gager both of Topeka, KS, Carrrie (Greg) McMahon of Bixby, OK; son, Jesse (Amy) Hornecker of Auburn, KS; step-sons, David (Cindy) Wright of Topeka, KS, Jason Wright of Prarie Village, KS; 10 grandchildren; sisters, Sue (Rob) Smith of Edna, OH, Thea (Dan) Walstrom of Platte City, MO; 5 step sisters and brother, Cathy (Jim) Ayers, Jerri Ann (Randy) Wise of Texas, Patti (Jim) Esser, Pat (Vicki) Simons and Jill Simons of Kansas.
A memorial service celebrating Jerry’s life will be held at the Auburn Presbyterian Church in Auburn, KS, 11:00 A.M., Friday, March 21, 2014.
The family request, that those desiring to do so may make memorial donations to the Auburn Community Library or the Auburn Presbyterian Church.
