Jeremias "Jerry" Mata

Rio Hondo, TX- Jeremias “Jerry” Mata, 51, entered into eternal rest Sunday, January 27, 2013 in Rio Hondo.
He was a 1980 graduate of Rio Hondo High School; he was employed with Wilbur – Ellis for 16 years; he enjoyed welding and spending time outdoors, especially with his family and livestock.
He is preceded in death by his grandmother, Guadalupe Esquivel.
Jeremias is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Gracie Mata; his children, Jeremy Jay (Jasmin) Mata and Erica Marie (John) Castro; his grandchildren, J.J. Mata, Jaylynn Marie Mata, and Jade Nicole Mata; his parents, Ramiro and Juanita Mata; his brother, Rodrigo (Vicky) Mata; his sisters, Elvia (Rey) Flores, Dolores Garza, Sara (Jesse) Sanchez, and Norma (Rick) Villafranco; and his father and mother-in-law, Hilario and Graciela Compean.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 29, 2013 from 1:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. with the Holy Rosary to be prayed at 7:00 P.M. at San Benito Funeral Home.
The funeral precession will depart San Benito Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at 9:30 A.M. for a 10:00 A.M. Funeral Mass at St. Helen Catholic Church in Rio Hondo. Interment will follow to Mont Meta Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Rene Alfaro, Edward Alfaro, Rocky Alfaro, Roy Garza, Hector Saldana, and Martin Juarez.
