Jeanne L. Baker

May 18, 1946 — August 14, 2014

Jeanne Lynn Baker, 68, entered into rest August 14, 2014 in Harlingen, Texas.
Jeanne was born May 18, 1946 in Geneva, Illinois to John William and Lottie Bolle.  She graduated from Evanston School of Nursing in Evanston, IL as a Nurse Practitioner.  Jeanne served with Vista and the Peace Corp.  She was employed by Su Clinica in Harlingen and St. Anthony Hospital in Rockford, IL, prior to that.   She held an RN Nurse Practitioner license and was a member of the Nursing Association of America.  Jeanne was of the Roman Catholic faith.
She is survived by her son, Jacob Baker of Harlingen; four sisters, Mary, Patty (twin sister), Linda and Loretta; and many nieces and nephews.
Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents, John and Lottie Bolle.
A memorial service will be held at a later date for family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Christ’s Harbor Church, 1441 Santa Isabel, Laguna Vista, TX 78578, who will designate them to benefit the Sunny Glen Children’s Home in San Benito, TX   or the Harlingen Humane Society, 1106 Markowsky Ave. Harlingen, Texas 78550 in Jeanne's memory.
The family is deeply indebted for the wonderful and dedicated care giving services by Arnold Torres, who has given services for many years to Ms. Baker with no compensation, and the family would also like to thank Louise from Gentiva Hospice.
Jeanne was an initiator and adventurous person.  She moved from her home in Illinois to Harlingen in the early 1970’s and made her home there, so she could put her nursing skills to work at Su Clinica.  She did not know anyone when she moved to Harlingen, but made numerous lifelong friends there as time went on.
She will always be remembered for her giving spirit to others, especially children, and devoting her life to taking care of her fellow human beings.
Her smile made this earth a much better place to live.  She will be loved always.
