Jean Anne Ferris Pratt born August 21, 1927 to Myrna Lyon Ferris and Bentley Ward Ferris in Laramie, Wyoming passed away May 11, 2013.
Growing up, Jean Anne lived in many towns in Texas as her father was in the oil business. She also spent summers in Colorado with her beloved grandparents.
In 1949 she graduated from the University of Texas where she was a member of the Alpha Delta Pi sorority At the University, she met the love of her life Lloyd Eldon Pratt and they married in 1950.
After a short time in San Antonio Lloyd was stationed in the service, they moved to Harlingen where they lived for sixty years.
Jean Anne earned a degree in interior design and pursued her passion decorating many, many homes and offices throughout the valley for most of her adult life. She also opened an interior decorating studio Interiors and a Needlework store, The Trellis. She absolutely loved working with people helping them with their homes and always felt so lucky to have a job she so enjoyed.
Jean Anne and Lloyd were charter members of Wesley United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Harlingen Junior League and more recently PEO. She attended two Bible studies the past several years and spent many hours every week on her studies. She had a personal relationship with Christ and assurance she would have eternal life.
Jean Anne is survived by her daughter Melinda Pratt Covert of Austin, Mark Bentley Pratt of Harlingen, and David Eldon Frank Pratt of Dallas; grandchildren Conley Covert, Cameron Covert, Brittany Pratt, Shelby Pratt, and Paige Pratt and a great granddaughter Allison. She is also survived by her caregiver and close friend of 30+ years Rosa Torres and Israel Ramon who was a wonderful friend and help to the Pratt family.
Jean Anne was an incredible wife, mother, daughter, sister and grandmother, and great grandmother. She was a friend to so many and adored her friends and family.
Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, May 16th from 5-7 at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home.
A memorial service celebrating Jean Anne’s life will be held Friday, May 17th at Wesley United Methodist Church officiated by Rev. Doug Hinchcliff and Bill Reagan. The service will be preceded by a private graveside service. The family invites you to join them for a reception immediately following the service in the Charter Hall.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Frank Boggus, Lyle DeBolt, Wally Van Wyk, Ned Davis, Max Harris, Tommy Carruth, Louis Nicholson, Billy Busa, Bob Boggus, Paul DeBolt, Tudor Uhlhorn, John Van Wyk, Houston Yarbrough, Greg Powers, Bill Yougblood, and Jim Youngblood.
