Laguna Vista, TX:
Jean Hurd peacefully went home to be with the Lord, Thursday, March 20, 2008 surrounded by her loving family. She was born to Benjamin Lewis and Bessie May Quillin in Wynona, Oklahoma on March 20, 1933.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters Teresa Hurd Gross and Charlene Hurd Campos; her grandchildren, Thomas & Jaime Campos of Texas, Emily and Olivia Gross of California; her sisters, Virginia Lester, Charlene Kneisel, Betty Holt and Agnes Walker; her brothers, Ben Lewis, Ed Lewis, Paul Lewis and Doug Lewis.
Though originally from Oklahoma, Jean and her husband Charles moved to California to raise their family. In 1995 they semi-retired to South Texas were they formed many wonderful friendships with local residence and Winter Texans alike.
An advocate for progress in her hometown she was instrumental in procuring a fire truck for the community. She also saw the need for a school library in Wynona and orchestrated a fundraiser on their behalf.
Jean will be greatly missed by all for her zeal for life, her positive attitude and her ability to see the best in everyone and everything!
Services are to be held at the First Baptist Church of Wynona, Oklahoma on Saturday, March 29th at 11:00 a.m.
