Jamie T. Crowe born May 24, 1927 in Pelahatchie, Mississippi passed away peacefully at home October 30th, 2008.
Mrs. Crowe was a longtime resident of the Rio Grande Valley. She graduated in the class of 1943 from Rio Hondo High School and attended Texas A & I University. She worked thirty years in the Federal Civil Service, the last nineteen years with the IRS. As long as her health allowed, she enjoyed being involved with the Local NARF Chapter. Mrs. Crowe was also a member of Calvary Baptist Church for the past fifty years.
She was preceded in death by her husband of forty two years, Burton David Crowe; parents, James Thomas Knight Jr. & Cora Asha Patrick Knight; and sisters, Ellen Snyder (Bob) and Sybil Knight.
She is survived by her son James Burton Crowe of Kansas; daughter Margaret Ellen (Mike) Choquette of Oklahoma; four grandsons, Brian Crowe (Molly), Steven Crowe, Larry Buchanan Jr. (Jennifer) and Bob Buchanan. She had five great grandchildren, Seth, Jackson, Christie, Courtney and Kayla Buchanan. Jamie is also survived by her sister, Rosie Hartzog (James) of Rio Hondo and a host of thoughtful nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Sunday, November 2, 2008 at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. with the family present to receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Funeral services will be held Monday, November 3, 2008 at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home at 11 a.m. with Rev. Wilbur Atan officiating. Burial will follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park in San Benito.
Honorary pallbearers will be her grandsons, Brian Crowe, Steven Crowe, Larry Buchanan, Jr. and Bob Buchanan.
The family would like to extend a very special thanks to her caregiver and friend for the past six years, Mary Mata and to all caring and compassionate groups with Valley Baptist, Odyssey Hospice Group who helped Mrs. Crowe and her family during her last days.
