James Philip Cooper died on Wednesday, March 23, 2022 in Laredo, Texas. He was born on November 24, 1966 in Logansport, Indiana. Jim worked for nearly 30 years in Law Enforcement in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas. Most notably, he served the City of Mercedes for over 21 years.
Jim had a rich history of friendships that he made throughout the law enforcement community and had many friendships across many agencies. He served as a mentor to many and lived a life of service to his community.
He enjoyed the outdoors. Jim loved playing golf, hunting, fishing, and taking his Jeep out on the dunes at South Padre Island. He loved traveling and making memories with his family. He loved God, his family, friends and his community.
Jim leaves behind his son, Jordan Philip Cooper; fiancée, Jennifer Watts; his parents, Nancy and Phil Cooper; his sister, Danielle (Joel) Webb and their children, Marshall, Mercedes, and Arcadia Webb; his uncles, Bill (Judy) Ellington, Dan (Bev) Ellington; cousins, Chris, Scott, and Adam Ellington, Michelle (Jason) Pearson; former spouse, Dalila Aguirre; former spouse, Patricia Robles; best friend, Jerry (Karen) McKee; and longtime family friends, Jim and Dee Workman.
We are thankful for the love and support shown to our family and are forever grateful to you all. We wish to invite you to join us in a celebration of Jim’s life on Saturday, April 2, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church, Harlingen.
