James Law "Jim" Youngblood

August 20, 1956 — February 4, 2022

James “Jim” Law Youngblood, Jr. passed away February 4, 2022 with his best friend and longtime partner, Jonny Nurdin by his side. Jim was born in Harlingen, Texas on August 20, 1956 and died at the age of 65 after a long battle with diabetes.

He was a graduate of Harlingen High School, Class of 1975. After graduating high school, Jim attended Blinn Junior College in Brenham, Texas. He was employed by Valley Materials Transportation in the ‘80s. Later, he went to work for Weatherford Company in Houston.

Jim spent most of his adult life in Harlingen working at different jobs. However, his most important job he had was caring for his mother, Lorelle. He dedicated a great deal of his life to taking care of her after his father passed away.  His brother Bill described caring of Lorelle was like having 20 jobs. He was a devoted son and catered to all of her needs. Relatives and friends remember Jim as a very caring, sweet soul.  Jim would go out of his way to be kind and often surprised family members by showing up at their front door with a birthday gift, baby gift, or treat that he knew would be greatly enjoyed.

His partner, Jonny confirmed, “He never thought about himself.  He was always wanting to do something for someone else”. Jim was a dear, selfless man that we will all miss and we rejoice that we know he is in Paradise now with his Heavenly father and all those who went before him.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Jimmy and Lorelle Youngblood.

He is survived by his brother, Bill Youngblood; his partner, Jonny Nugin; nephew, Bonner (Lauren) Youngblood; and niece, Camille Youngblood.  He is also survived by his uncle, Frank Boggus; and numerous cousins.

A graveside service and interment will take place Friday, February 11, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at Mont Meta Memorial Park with Pastor Phil Bland officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Jim’s name may be made to the Harlingen Humane Society (www.hshtx.org).
