Harlingen:
James V. Pemelton, 69, passed away Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at Methodist Hospital in San Antonio, Texas.
James was born on October 27, 1944 in Mercedes, Texas to Paul and Frances Pemelton. He was a graduate of Mercedes High School and a lifelong farmer in the Mercedes and La Feria area. He attended the Rio Hondo Baptist Church.
James had a love for hunting, collecting Willy’s Jeeps and antique tractors. He also enjoyed being outside where he loved to work in his yard and throw big BBQ’s for his friends.
Survivors include his wife, Chris Pemelton of Harlingen; sons, Kelly (Melanie) Pemelton of La Feria, Jeff (Stephanie) Pemelton of Schertz, TX, Austin (Katherine) Pemelton of Harlingen; grandchildren, Taylor and Jordan Pemelton of La Feria, Drew Pemelton of Schertz and Lilah and Robyn Pemelton of Harlingen; uncle and aunt, Bill Joe and Billie Ryan of Pleasanton, brother, Billy Gene (Misch) Pemelton and sister, Paula Kay Heggen (Allen). He was preceded in death by a son, Robert Kent Pemelton and his parents.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Sunday, August 10, 2014 at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home.
A celebration of James’s life will be held at the Rio Hondo Baptist Church in Rio Hondo, 10:00 AM, Monday, August 11, 2014 with the Rev. Gene Horton officiating. Burial will follow at Ebony Grove Cemetery in Mercedes, Texas.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Clifford, Brent Barr, Scot Campbell, Bill Sayre, Doug Hansen, Jeff Johnson, Don Moskal and Steve Wolf. Honorary Pallbearer will be Gerald Graham.
Those desiring to do so may make a memorial donation to the Rio Hondo Baptist Church, 400 Bristol, Rio Hondo, TX 78503 or to the Harlingen Humane Society, 1106 Markowsky, Harlingen, TX 78550.
