McAllen, TX:
James B. “Jim” Olson entered into eternal rest on February 5, 2014. He was born in Lindsborg, Kansas on April 14, 1922 to August and Ada Olson. Jim was a loving father, brother, grandfather and father-in-law. He was a reliable and a dependable friend to those who knew him.
Jim graduated from Central High School in Cheyenne, Wyoming in 1940. After graduation, he went on to enlist in the Navy in 1942. He served in military action in the North and South Pacific. This included crossing the International Date Line and the equator several times during his course of military service.
He retired from the sheet metal trade having a career that started in 1940, which included a 10-year stint in which he instructed an apprentice class.
Jim married Marjorie Ruth Austin in 1948 in Kimball, Nebraska. Two children were born of this union.
He is survived by his son, John B. Olson; daughter, Marcelle R. (Ron) Garison of Boulder, Wyoming; and two grandchildren Cabel Olson and Sarah Olson both of Austin, TX.
God saw that he was getting tired and a cure was not to be, so he put his arms around him and whispered “Come with me”. With tearful eyes we watched him suffer and saw him fade away. Although we loved him dearly we could not make him stay …a golden heart stopped beating, a hardworking hand rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us He only takes the best.
