James Louis McMillan, 97, passed away Sunday, June 3, 2012 at his residence in Harlingen just 2 ½ months after his wife, Frances died.
James was born on November 4, 1914 in Thorndale, Texas to James Douglas and Lula McMillan. He graduated from Thorndale High School where he class president. James proudly served his county during World War II in the Army Intelligence. After serving in World War II, James graduated with the class of 1937 to become part of the Texas Highway Patrol. James married Helen Frances Ezell and they were married for over 71 years. He was employed with the Texas Highway Patrol then owned a Life Insurance Agency where he obtained a Charter Life Underwriter license and later retired.
James enjoyed social activities, watching basketball and baseball, gardening, genealogy and especially traveling globally with his wife, Frances. They visited Germany, Holland, Denmark, Russia, China, Japan, Italy, France, Canada, Mexico, Costa Rica, Venezuela, Columbia, Aruba, Jamaica, The Bahamas, Finland, England, Israel, Turkey, Luxemburg and many other wonderful and exotic places. James was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Rotary Club and served as president, the Shiners, and was a 32nd degree Mason.
James is survived by daughters, Karen Frazier of Bellville, TX and Susan Teichmann of Amarillo, TX; grandchildren, Stephanie Becho of Corpus Christi, TX, Majken Pullin of Katy, TX, Conan Teichmann of Amarillo, TX, and Jon M. Teichmann of Amarillo, TX; great grandchildren, Christoffer Becho of Corpus Christi, TX, Courtney Teichmann of Amarillo, TX, Presley Pullin of Katy, TX, Justin Becho of Corpus Christi, TX, Chris Teichmann of Amarillo, TX, Paxton Pullin of Katy, TX, and James Teichmann of Amarillo, TX; nephews, Robb Ezzell, Peter Ezzell, Michael Ezzell, and Kent Ezzell all of California.
James was preceded in death by his wife of over 71 years, Frances; his parents; his brother Hugh McMillan and sister Mary Lee Spilman.
A memorial service celebrating the Life of James will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Harlingen, 4:00 PM, Thursday, June 7, 2012 with the Rev. David Payne officiating. Burial services will be private at Mont Meta Memorial Park.
