Harlingen- James (Jimmy) Edward Baker, age 66, was surrounded by family and friends as he was called home on February 5, 2021. The Lord welcomed him with open arms after a short but fierce battle with cancer.
Jimmy was born on December 17, 1954 in McAllen, TX, to Billy Joe and Mary Baker.
Jimmy met the love of his life, Judy, while cruising the Minimax parking lot. After much convincing, Judy finally agreed to go on a date with him ONLY if she could drive his car. They married in November of 1978, moved to Harlingen and started their family. Jimmy was an avid hunter, fisherman, and fixer of all things, but his most cherished times were spent with his grandbabies.
Jimmy is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Judy, his adoring children, Jessica Buck (Matt), Katie McLean (Cole), Rebecca Baker (Samuel Lopez), and Joey Baker (Morgan Arfele), his precious grandbabies, Mckenna, Monroe, Zane, Camryn, Maddyn, Holland, and Baker, his brother Bill Baker (Myra), numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends that have become family.
Jimmy is preceded in death by his parents Billy Jo and Mary Baker, grandson Wyatt, sister Kathryn Baker and nephew Nathan Hancock.
A Celebration of Jimmy’s wonderful life will take place in the Sanctuary of First United Methodist Church of Harlingen on Friday, February 12 at 2 PM.
As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions can be made to First United Methodist Church of Harlingen, 321 E. Harrison, Harlingen, TX 78550.
