SAN BENITO, TX. – Israel Joseph Vela, born on the 1st of May 1994 in Harlingen, Texas, died on Wednesday, the 17th of February 2016 in Harlingen, Texas. He was twenty-one years old.
Israel graduated from Lyford High School, Class of 2012, and was currently working on completing his bachelor’s degree, majoring in political science at Texas State Technical College. He enjoyed reading, watching football, trail riding, barbecuing, being involved and keeping up with current politics, and most importantly, spending time with his friends and family.
His uncle, Moises Vela, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his parents, Israel Vela and Edna Loredo; paternal grandparents, Filiberto and Estella Vela; maternal grandparents, Apolonio and Cecilia Loredo; sisters, Tyrah and Jenica Vela; brother-in-law, Raul Salinas III; nieces, Miley Hernandez and Kross Salinas; nephew, Chase Joseph Salinas; his pet, Roughy; as well as numerous relatives on both sides of the family.
Visiting hours are on Saturday, the 20th of February 2016, beginning at one o’clock in the afternoon and concluding at nine o’clock at night, with a prayer service to begin at seven o’clock this evening within the San Benito Funeral Home Chapel, 1400 West Highway 77, San Benito, Texas 78586.
A chapel service will commence on Sunday, the 21st of February 2016, at one o’clock in the afternoon, officiated by Reverend David Mann.
A graveside service will then follow immediately thereafter at the Guadalupe Cemetery in Sebastian, Texas, at two o’clock in the afternoon.
