Isabel "Abel" Benavidez

Isabel “Abel” Benavidez, 71, peacefully passed from this life on September 29, 2020.  He was born June 17, 1949 in San Benito, Texas to the late Francisco Garcia Benavidez and Juanita Reyna Benavidez.

Abel enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.  He loved family trips, family get-togethers, and barbecuing. He also enjoyed smoking and drinking with his friends.

Abel was preceded in death by his wife, Maria Benavidez, and his parents Francisco G. and Juanita R. Benavidez.

He is survived by his children, Maricela (Ruben) Reyes, Rafael (Leticia) Benavidez, Abel (Misty) Benavidez, and Samuel (Janie) Benavidez; 11 loving grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Ruben Reyes, Jr., Rafael Benavidez, Jr., Kevin Benavidez, Logan Benavidez, Marcus Webb, and Billy Stephens.

The Benavidez family will be receiving friends and relatives on Sunday, October 4, 2020 from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at San Benito Funeral Home.  A recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 7 o’clock on Sunday evening.  (Click the link below to view the prayer service via live-stream.)

Abel will be laid to rest on Monday, October 5, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at San Benito Memorial Park (City Cemetery).
