Irene Marie Buchen

Irene Marie Buchen, age 93 of Los Fresnos, passed away Sunday, November 7, 2010 at her home. She was born February 4, 1917 in Curtiss, Clark County, Wisconsin. Her parents were Albert and Anna Wachsmuth.
She is survived by two sons, Richard and wife, Stella, of Los Fresnos and David and wife, Dorothy of Kerrville, 5 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles; brothers, Fred and Henry Wachsmuth, and sister, Helen Steadham.
As a long time farmer’s wife’s, she was a devoted wife and mother. Irene worked as a volunteer for many years at Dolly Vinsant Memorial Hospital in San Benito. Until her illness, she was an active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 11, 2010, 3 p.m., at St. John’s Lutheran Church in San Benito with Rev. Lynn Lubke officiating. Interment will follow at Mont Meta Mausoleum.
Pallbearers will be Dennis Buchen, Charles Buchen, Mike Fields, Gary Fisher, Matthew Fisher and Dan Fields. Honorary pallbearer will be Eddie Schneider.
Special thanks is given to her caregiver and longtime friend, Dominga Lopez, to CIMA Hospice and caregivers, San Juana (Janie) Perez and Beatrice Jimenez.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. John’s Lutheran Church, 1000 N. Crockett, San Benito, TX 78586.
