Iola June Swanson Lloyd, 82, passed away August 3, 2009 at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen.
Iola was born June 9, 1927 to Alfred and Emma Swanson of Harlingen. She married Johnnie C. Swanson on May 31, 1947.
Iola worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone in the beginning of her career and retired in a manager position on March 13, 1987. After retiring she traveled to all parts of the world. One of her favorite trips was to Alaska, where she traveled there three times.
Survivors are daughter, Carrolyn J. Hay; granddaughter, Lora Hooper; sister-in-law, Yvonne Swanson and her children, Anita, Doris and Bruce; brother, Arlo Swanson and his wife, Carol Mae Swanson and their children. She was preceded in death by a brother, Harley Swanson.
Visitation hours will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Wednesday, August 5, 2009 at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home, 10:00 AM, Thursday, August 6, 2009 with Rev. Marcus Mueller. Entombment will be at Mont Meta Memorial Park.
