Imogene Hale McCormick Thompson, age 93, died June 10, 2014 in Grapevine, TX.  She was born October 6, 1920 in Gunter, TX to Ethan E. and Lela Jones Hale.  She was the second of nine children: Louis Hale, Ethan Hale, Jr., Mary Joyce Alexander, Peggy Brooks, Don Hale, Bob Hale and twins, Jane Thompson and Jeanette Smith.
She graduated from Lubbock High School in 1940.  After the death of both her parents that same year, she went with an Aunt to Tyler, TX.  She worked as a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company for 6 years in Tyler, Houston and Kansas City, Missouri. After raising her family, she worked for Harlingen School District for 12 years and for Weight Watchers for 26 years.
She married Frank G. McCormick of Independence, Missouri, in 1944. He preceded her in death in 1979.  They were married 35 years and had three children.  In 1987 she married Erwin J. Thompson. He preceded her in death in 1999. They loved ballroom dancing.
She is survived by one brother, Bob Hale and wife Emogene and two sisters, Jane Thompson and husband Bobby and Jeanette Smith and husband Sammy.  She is also survived by her three children, Frank Douglas McCormick and his wife Jackie, Martha Jean Brown and her husband Buddy and June Frances Newland and her husband Pat. Also seven grandchildren; Brian McCormick and wife Dianne, Brett McCormick, Doug Brown and wife Lisa, David Brown and wife Debbie, Christopher Newland, Cole Newland and wife Tori and Camryn McGowan and husband Patrick. Eight great grandchildren survive her, Blake McCormick, Brent McCormick, Westen McCormick, Wyatt McCormick, Buddy Brown, Bailey Brown, Isabel Brown and Gia Brown.
Her hobbies were ceramics, sewing, quilting and gardening.
She was a member of First Christian Church of Harlingen, Texas since 1963 when the family moved from Independence, Missouri.  She loved this church and enjoyed delivering flowers to shut-ins.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, June 14, 2014, at 9:30 a.m., at Mont Meta Memorial Park in San Benito.
